Welcome to Valleywood!
A new blog about the happenings at the intersection of media and technology.
If the GenAI-powered “Help me write” button staring back at me from this otherwise blank Google Doc is any indication, the relationship between media and technology feels more relevant than ever.
Enter Valleywood!
Valleywood, as its name suggests, is my new project that explores the intersection of technology and entertainment, and I likewise hope it’s both informative and entertaining.
Why start this newsletter? Well, I’ve spent my entire career weaving in and out of these two industries. For example, as anyone who has ever mistakenly bumped into me at a dinner party while en route to the bathroom would know, I once interned for Conan O’Brien. From there, I spent my early career researching Tech and Media companies from an analyst desk on the trading floor, which was arguably an even funnier environment than a late night talk show. Fast forward to today, and I now work in Big Tech as a Product Manager (a canon event for MBA grads). For two years, I’ve focused on livestreaming and the creator economy, and today, I’m working on Generative AI. If these buzzwords mean nothing to you, that may just mean you have a life, but hopefully together we can change that.
Through this project, my goal is to unpack interesting topics at the intersection of media and tech, as well as to investigate the current events, new startups, and internet weirdness at the heart of it all.
It will be a work in progress, and I welcome all feedback. The first posts might flop, but I hope you’ll stick around. In the words of Paul Rudd from Forgetting Sarah Marshall:
